HEAVEN HELP US, IT MUST BE ELVIS
there he proudly stood
behind the counter at my 7-11
an elderly man with tattoos
who crooned Jail house rock & my blue heaven
say, wasn't the king
supposed to be dead
overfilled with rich food and pills
the fame went to his head
so when i walked into the store
much to my surprise
a clerk with sunglasses and a cape
what a sight for sore eyes
heaven help us
i shouted out
it must be elvis
i had no doubt
he had a 300 pound pouch
bushy sideburns and a toupay in black
and in the parking lot
sat a '57 pink cadillac
the king is alive
a little older, do tell
selling slurpees, singing to the oldies
the songs he knows so well
