Chasing lights

I let the curtains fall ,
Letting the lights in .
Unveiling the layers of darkness ,
Giving my room space to let it shine .
I watch as the walls glow ,
And the surrounding becomes brighter,
Taunting me to look at myself,
Who is becoming slowly darker .
Forcing myself , I look up into my eyes ,
And I find those brown orbs sparkle under sunlight.
But my visibly puffed eyes that are getting redder ,
Questions me in a whisper ,
who am I ?
Everyday caging myself inside me ,
I let people believe I'm golden.
Leaving the broken bleeding me to run in a maze ,
Chasing the endless blackness , desperately looking for light .
But I live on believing in the day ,
When the light will cover me like the mist in deep forest .
I'll break free from my own cage ,
And watch my true self gleam,
truly knowing who I am .

About this poem

I wrote this poem when I was in the phase of my life where everything was uncertain to me . I was caged by my own mind and I was working on myself to be able to uncage me , and fly free .
