Caged

I wasn't always like this,
This caged, this broken, this insecure.
Mum said I was a freeborn filled with bliss,
But circumstances sometimes cages us and makes us impure.

Circumstances when we think we've found the "right" person and we give our heart all to them,
All for our brokeness to become inspirations to pening down relatable stories in writings and poems.
...
Why is one person so powerful enough to become the source of our happiness and joy?
And that same person is still so powerful to shatter us, leaving us damaged and destroyed,
Why do we carry our hearts in our hands, wandering around, looking for the "right" person to break it?
And then with this so called "love", we are drowned; to the feelings of unworthiness, insecurity and anxiety, we begin to submit.

Do you want to know the truth?
Here it is.

I have wings but I can't fly.
Not that I do not want to fly.
But I think I've lost my elegance, my worth, so there's no need to try.
I'm now broken, insecure, anxious and all I do now is cry,
Praying my pain finally goes away and feeling my tears as they dry.

Why do I feel this way?
Someone please help me get this pain away.
I'm tired of crying all day.
But no matter how I try, these feelings seems like they're here to stay.

The memories of the sacrifices I made,
And how your selfishness was for it all my pay.
I really just want those memories to fade,
But they seem to remain obstacles that'll constantly remain in my way.

Obstacles that has made me question my level of maturity,
Obstacles that has transformed me into a severe victim of insecurity,
Obstacles that's now preventing me from loving again,
Obstacles that has chained me under the shackles of my pain.

But, I want to break free.
Please, please, save me,
I want to soar again, I want to be fee.
Dearest God, please please save me.
