Farher Mother Destiny

I forgive you mother and father
for your mistakes
I need to be forgiven for mine

They say  the sins of the parents
shall be visited upon the children
so they have visited
and I embraced them
in times of uncertainty
yet fled from them in moments of clarity

Surely as a stone goes tumbling
down a slope
I have fallen
only to brush myself off
to attempt another perilous ascent
a venture to the top
where I truly conceived
love and security would be waiting
in a parents warm grasp

Destiny however has another design
I continued to ignore
what the universe has in store
so I climbed
and I fell

Perhaps it was my own pain
that compelled me in vain
I didn't realize you suffered as well

One cannot offer something
they have never been given

Obsess over what will not be altered
slam your fists into the ground
scream to the stars and sky above
drink yourself into oblivion
only to suffer bruised hands
a sore throat
and a sobering reality

Amid a world overran
by self serving individuals
and harsh lessons
I have evolved into a spiritual warrior

Love is attainable
the outside is cold
the inside is warm
and in here
what lies dormant
is replenished with self love

The inevitable time has arrived
I have let go mounting the slope
the pain will survive
love for myself is the power to be alive

I forgive you for your mistakes
forgive me for mine---------------------------------------------------

About this poem

Forgiveness is a two way street an adult forgives their parents for not being there for them and hopefully others can forgive them for the mistakes they have made as a result of not having that parental influence in thier life
