The Story of the forgotten Statue

Life remains excruciatingly immobile
this state of inertia enshrouds my already
impoverished senses

Upon beholding the surrender of the seasons from
autumn to winter the gnawing vacancy that resides
within is a throbbing bottomless void inhabited solely
by a beating heart infected with loss and bruised with
anguish

Through the prevalence of time I have evolved into an
obscure hollow statue immersed by twisted noxious vines

Rooted quietly helplessly observing life flourish the
manner in which the movie patron views the theater screen afar

In this film however there appears no promise for a happy ending

Water quenches a parched tongue
the hungry man must feed
a weeping infant seeks security and affection
an exhausted body needs rest

Essentials to the human experience
as is the desire to be loved

So I am to be punished for yearning after what is
natural

Sauntering into a deeply etched labyrinth I have
sought for warmth and passion
yet each passageway reveals another thorn laden
wall whose roses have withered and mocked me

I will not succumb to my imprisonment
the savior will arrive chisel in hand

Or:

I shall be the chameleon and merge unobserved into my
lifeless surroundings
