North Sea, seeing.
Jim and I
Were on our trip.
He, well traveled.
I, not so much.
Sea breezes for Jim
Not a biggy.
I dreamt of seeing, smelling
Touching the Big Water.
Well how about the North Sea?
Heading toward Edinburgh.
Map showed a quaint
Little spot.
Newbiggin by the Sea.
Scandinavians here got
A new start, new beginning.
Check in at a small hotel.
Right around supper.
Had to be fish’n chips
Newspaper wrapped.
Malt vinegar and sea salt.
Adjourning to Pub.
Dart boards on 3 of the 4
Walls.
Proprietor and his Son
Picked up dart sets.
Handed two to us.
How, we got humbled
Fifty, triple fifty.
Point out precisely.
Carr to troi agin Lads?
(Northumberland mumble
Very strong.)
Beddy-byes.
With rising sun I
Headed to the beach.
Ocean beach.
Sat in the sand.
Shells most everywhere.
Smelling the saline.
Watching lesser waves.
Compete for the wet sands.
Folks down to shore’s edge
To buy fresh fish
Off incoming dories.
Much happy banter.
YESSS, Ocean. Sigh.
Could almost see
Those Vikings at the Horizon.
Starting over, safely.
