Ode to the Days of Old

You're still with me
the echoing sounds of you
the aroma of dishes in your time
the laughter the banter and chatter.

Shards of those days still pierce my memory
I see briefly like a flash of light
the horrors and fantasies of those times
those gone by without a bye.

The tale of my scars I can tell
nights of armoured worries and longings
days I wanted the sun to rise at a snail's pace
days I wanted to see it rise like the lightning.

You blow dust of memories in my face
when I see things and people from your time;
the remembrance of you leave smiles
the remembrance of you get me sighing.

I remember you;
the sighs laughter tears fears pain
I try to place things of now
to where I had seen them in your days.

To the days of old when my days were young
where peace and grief cohabit like teeth and tongue
a little bite is a prompt that although sparks of you
You're still here with me.

About this poem

This poem is about the years we have lived and how much we can recollect about those moments we have had. Moments that are as hard as an almond and those as soft as cheese. It talks of things that conjure its remembrance of the past.
