Saurian at the Golf Course, grinning

Doug Blair 1951 (London)

He comes out to a big rock.
Warming the cold bloods.
Eighteen footer.
Gator.
Scar slashes mar
The sides just
Before hind legs.
Trap? propellor?
Off to right side of
Fifteenth hole.
Ball retrievers must be careful.
Heard of three in
The last season
Getting nipped.
One badly, a Staffer.
Shoulda known better.
The bumpy bastard regarded
By me these last five years.
Right here.
Stream must have offered
Enough fish, snakes
Raccoons, skunks
Wandering dogs, ducks.
And sweet irrigation.
For the old Guy…

Out of the corner
Of his eye
Always it seems.
Giving me the hunter-look
Unless I mistook.
