The Soul

The forest is my church
Where I lie down on the grass and the moss
Listening to the wind blow through the aspen and pine
Barefoot and on my back, in the sun
Smelling the earth and the water from the lake
The clouds are slowly drifting to their next destination
Never to be seen again
The birds chirp their sermons to all around the trees
And I take a deep breath, remembering what it's like
To be free
To be whole
To be at peace
My demons can't reach me here
No preacher can guide me at this moment
Nature is what heals
Time allows me to feel
My shoulders relax and I can feel my toes
The sun burns all of the stress and fears away
The self-loathing subsides and I am comfortable
I am beautiful and inspired
The peace of it all is surrounding me, and I am home.
