In For the Ride, looking full on Calvary.

Douglas Blair 1951 (London)

IN FOR THE RIDE

In this world of

Race for the line

So easy feeling

Less than exceptional.

Less than gripping

To a guy down the street.

Or even to one’s blood.

And Bible pounders speak

Of worth of a Soul.

Of Christ and

The mortgage paid in full.

Sin’s mortgage.

Humiliation’s mortgage.

But that picture

Framed in Aunty’s den.

Shows the Master hanging.

Jeered at while bleeding.

Saying nothing to set it right.

Breathing out His last.

Like the little Temple Lamb.

He urges me.

I am in for the ride.

All of it.

So help me God.
