Christmas

Christmas arrives,
Yet the magic has faded.
Within my childhood home, I awaken,
But it echoes of mere structure,
The walls, once wise, now strangers,
Seemingly oblivious to my existence.
The essence has departed,
Perhaps extinguished years ago.

Unadorned walls,
Aged timber,
Ceilings marred by water's touch,
They narrate our story.
A family weathered by the passage of time.
No haste,
Time ever abundant,
Until it ceases to be so,
And love becomes lost in the labyrinth.
