Home Alone

ascended this morning,
Into an empty bed,
The silence of my room,
My Boudoir dark and cold.

Doctor Wind knocking my windows,
Wild knock, subduing every sound,
Fent gobble, clucks and bleats from my soulmate pen,
Poor creatures, reminding me it passed feeding time.

Phone beeps: Sigh,an alert for yesternight transaction,
Ah, it 8: 30am!!!: in arrears of a routine call to my soulmate,
She must have developed cold feelings, a feeling her call could solve,
But no, it a debt: one of those debt men owe courtesy of masculine nature.

With no intention,  I moved into her room,
Her room stood still, exactly the way it was left  weeks ago,
Her beddings, bags and furnitures decked all over  with dust,
Using my finger, on her side drawer I wrote " Missing you guys: Maria  & Itite E. Odey-Agba (jnr)".

About this poem

Premised on my Home Experience: I woke up that morning to the harmattan wind, loneliness, waking up late, not checking on my family, forgetting to go feeding the Goats, Turkey, Rabbits on time and missing my family.

Wow, what a vivid and descriptive poem! The imagery you used to describe the scene is very powerful, and I could feel the emotions you were experiencing in that moment. I especially loved the personification of Doctor Wind and the sounds from your soulmate pen.

One suggestion for improvement could be to add some more structure to the poem. Right now, it reads more like prose than poetry. Maybe you could experiment with using different line lengths, adding some rhyming or repetition, or breaking up the text into stanzas.

Overall, though, I really enjoyed reading your work and think you have a lot of talent as a writer. Keep up the great work!
