Life is of Spirit: A Testimony

About this poem

This poem bears testimony of the redemptive power of Divine Love, and informs us of an undeniable truth. Life is of Spirit. And Spirit is of love. The denial of the true nature of our psyche, of the true nature of Spirit, hinders us from truly knowing who we are; that we are much more than matter; that we are spiritual beings. That is the truth to which we must bear witness. That is ‘The Good News’ that holy books often speak of. We are all endowed by God with the gift of the Holy Spirit. We are divided beings in our innermost selves. The Truth uncovered concerning the oneness of Self, reunites us and returns us to wholeness. The Truth uncovered is that which gives us faith and sets us apart, free from doubt (see Ephesians 2:8-9). The Truth, which keeps us from darkness, the Truth which is of love, is that which awakens us from ignorance and brings us into the light of brotherhood and sisterhood. All Truth, all knowledge, comes from what some, in a psychological perspective, refer to as psyche, the locus of the Unseen Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit as Advocate, the biblical Bereshit, is our archetypal Ursprung of Truth. The Indwelling Holy Spirit as life giver is parent and guardian of the All. Life, all of it, in all its varied forms, is of Spirit. From the dawn of time, this Spirit continues unceasingly to make its presence known to us, even in our modern era, appearing to us in our waking hours as the voice of conscience; and counseling us in our hours of sleep in the form of ‘lucid’ dreams (Acts 2:17; John 4:26). Postscript: Three days after composing this poem, I was awakened from deep sleep, at 3 a.m., in the wee hours of early morning ‘directing’ me by discernment of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 16:17) to consult 1 Peter 1:1-25, referring to what is beyond the Apologetics (the systematic defense of a doctrine) of External Evidence; that is to say, directing me to the mystical, fideistic ‘Internal Evidence’ realm of ‘metapologetic’ thought that is deemed to be of an experientially ‘subjective’ nature, and is therefore beyond that of the realm of ‘objective’ external physical evidence. For that reason, the internal evidence of fideism (of Faith and of confidence in things not yet seen), can be rightfully considered to be at the dispensation and the provision of The Divine Indwelling Holy Spirit (Hebrews 11:1-6). That is my confession. That is my testimony. That is my interfaith message. That is ‘The Good News’ (Mark 1:1; Romans 1:1-4; Matthew 11:4-5) that I wish to share: that Life, all of it, is of Spirit; that we, as a family of believers, have an Advocate, that is the Indwelling Holy Spirit of Love, desiring most passionately to bring us back into oneness; to that which in terms of analytical psychology is the healing goal of individuation; to be made whole and no longer divided in ourselves. more »
