The Resilience of Purest Gold: A Quixotic Ode to the Human Spirit

Mawphniang Napoleon 1993 (Ri Bhoi)

Though nought of material worth I possess,
And to the eye, I may appear as nought,
My heart doth gleam with purest gold, nonetheless.

My garments rent, my frame fragile and fraught,
My stomach empty, tears within me flow,
A victim of life's cruelty, I am caught.

Though errors I oft make, my soul doth show
A caring mold, and though my words may fall
Amiss, I live to quixotic bravery's flow.

Though frail my form may become, my spirit tall
Remains, and though life may have me down,
My courage doth not flee, my will not small.

Though love hath rent me asunder, my heart's crown
Remains true, and though little I may possess,
My innermost self I proffer, love's own dress.

As long as breath doth in me dwell,
I'll live a selfless life, to aid and offer
Support to the weak and voice for the voiceless.

With fortitude and humility,
I'll strive to make a difference, in this world full of cruelty.
