Parsifal

Though Nietzsche and Wagner had a bond most strong,
And mutually each other did inspire,
Yet Wagner's disregard, at Parsifal's premiere,
With invitation's absence did conspire,
To bring about the dissolution of their pact.
A bond, once pure, by neglect was brought to naught,
And so their friendship met a sorry end,
A casualty of Wagner's thoughtless fraught.

But let not this sad tale be told in vain,
For it a lesson holds for us all to glean;
That in this world of woe and endless pain,
All bonds are fleeting, doomed to be unseen.
Let us not guard them with the utmost care,
For they too, like all things, shall repair
