I Am Grey

I am racist; Because I am White
I am Black; A thief at night
I am Muslim; eager for my bomb to explode
I am Indian; ensuring money owed
I am Asian; accountable for COVID's heavy load

The augmentation this century has seen is remarkably great
Yet still continues the spotlight on race encapsulated in hate
A focus rather haughty, held by most
Too stubborn to adapt; So quick to boast
Neglect for individuality, too vain to humble down
In reality, an image projected of a clown
So, I choose to be Grey

Grey is neutral, modern, and free
Shades unlimited alike to personality
Some of which plant bombs and steal
Some shades of superiority they crave to feel
And some innocent of accusations some thought real
So, I choose to be Grey

A colour hardly limited to generations of belief
A colour elegant and superior, rewarding one relief
A colour compatible with all other hues
A neutral and balanced palette from which I can choose
Free from animosity, free from race, free from arrogant views
So I choose; to be Grey
Those peremptory, unwilling in change; those bull-headed
Are of no bother, no offense required to be bedded
Not worth the compassion, nor the time to find
While we rise above, conquering a stigma that centuries bind
They resent; they torture; their infliction we don’t mind
For we are Grey

Those abhorrent portrayals, used against all
Should very simply matter no more
For united we have metamorphosized a future we were bound to endure
The same legacy our children will live out pure
A common ground is found, a rather easy cure
For we are Grey

Soon those who dispute this new state
Will go cold; suffocated in ancient hate
Our children will acquire a revolution at their fate
For a decision we made, one so bearably light
To become colour neutral; to stand up and fight
For we are Grey

As they hate I reply
I am Grey; which I amplify
A simple comprehension they cannot compose
Stuck in the ashes of racism from which we rose
I care no more, as they have no threat to pose
For we are Grey
