Cemetery of Stars

Sometimes
I think
I see you.

It's in the thick of night beneath the same stars
we saw when I said goodbye.

Looking at these stars,
I almost feel like they parallel us.
Sometimes
relationships impact like meteors,
or
burn brilliantly only for a moment,
an icy trail in its wake;

and although the moment is gone,
the memory is still there to haunt you.
You are my living ghost,
an ephemeral apparition of a memory
I wish I could anon forget.

Soon,
I will paint the night sky anew
with memories that burn
brighter then our memories
plastered across the heavens.

Let the night
shine
just as brightly as the dawn,
give me a light
scintillating enough
to scare my ghosts away.

Closure sometimes
is as easy to grasp
as a puff of smoke,
or dandelion seeds
flitting about in the wind.
