A Star is Ripped from the Night Skies

When your words narrated your legends,
And you retell stories with brilliance close to none,
Your eyes shine the brightest,
Envied by the sun

And when the notes you wrote sang
And danced the loveliest melodies known to man
Your happiness peaks
Makes us understand a language only you speak

The colors you paint on a canvass
That captured the world alluringly
Via the talent of creation only you possess
Stated the definition of beauty

Every time you had an audience on the palm of your hand,
You have the ability to dictate awe,
Attention you demand
Minds are labyrinths that you soar

Your creations lit one torch at a time
And illuminated the darkness that the world hold
Making it all the more mournful for your torches to die
Seeing the world you kindled to darkness fold

Because your words remained on the page
Instead of narrating stories
It doesn't paint a scenery on my head anymore
Like it once did with ease

And when your notes no longer sang
But only repeated melodies already known to man,
When your colors are no longer vibrant
Your masterpieces become bugs when they're once giants

Your voice failed to inspire,
Let alone demand attention
You stand amid the audience,
Drowning in your own perspiration

When your works lose their spark
So does your eyes
The world is back to being a sparkle away from the dark
A star is ripped from the night sky

About this poem

The poem is told in a second point of view and places the reader in the shoes of an artist who lost their spark, with the narrator being an avid fan of their art. I wrote this as an alternate task for a failing subject.
