A hymn to hope

A hymn to hope
By: Gaber Basiouny (Egypt)
Translated by:
Hassan Hegazy (Egypt)

///
Every morning I renew,
Forgetting the pain of yesterday
and its painful wounds,
I fill my heart with determination,
I see beauty in everything, that worship God.
If I face despair or sorrow,
I turn my face to hope and cheerfulness.
As long as age is getting shorter and the train of life
is coming to its final station,
I turn my eyes to look at every beautiful new thing,
dreaming of the sun and warmth,
feeling no despair or frustration.
I seek to love, life and get forward.
I do not get tired, as long flower is filled
with fragrance and purity,
and the birds fly cheerfully,
and people walk and live contently,
and the world is always born and renewed steadily,
So why is this deep despair?
why I do not change and say farewell to sorrow
and sadness,
why I do not open my heart widely to life,
 to hope and live happily.
