Window With a View

Abby Kesington 1979 (Lagos)

The Window with a view of the night sky
Floods my mind with gratitude
Tonight, I can touch the sky
As sprawling buildings carries my soul to new altitude .

Grace lifts me from the doldrums of self pity
And desire inflates my heart like a balloon
Sweeping my feet off the Space city
My spirit floats towards the moon.

Self limiting thoughts breaks in shambles
Powerless at the expeditious pull to the milky way
I ride on the wings of hope
With no preambles
As pure joy for life fills my lungs all the way

Obliterating worries of what could have been
My soul makes peace with what it has been.
Oblivious to life frustrations
It soars into the realm of new  expectations

Pressing  towards the light
that Illuminates the night .

About this poem

This is a poem of gratitude. To enjoy the freedom taken for granted. It was written on the 11th floor of an hotel room with a beautiful view of the nightsky in Houston, Texas.
