Midnight Visitor

Michael C McAdoo 1974 (Phoenix Az)

Sitting alone staring at four blank walls.
Listening to the darkness as it calls.
I grabbed my bottle and the sleeping pills.
A ride to dreamland on nothing but thrills.
As I lay there slipping away on the floor.
I heard a vacant knock upon my door.
I opened it up to a stranger I swear I knew.
Hello my friend it's so good to see you.
I invited him in to sit and talk with me.
How this man filled my heart with glee.
A while later he said it was time for us to go.
What he meant by us I did not know.
But as we were walking out the door.
I saw myself lying dead upon the floor.

I just enjoy writing, though much of my works were lost in the transition to the new poetry.com, I will try to repost them as well as write new ones more…
