The Poet

People write poetry to have their say
perhaps of an interest in their day
It's a powerful way for people to share
or to show someone how much they care
sometimes confusing sometimes it's clear
sometimes they write to get over their fear
poetry can touch the heart of another
sometimes it's soothing to a lonely mother
It can be on every spectrum of emotion
any topic any time any place or ocean
some poems you read will speak to your soul
others are darkened and leave a hole
but every verse is the voice of a poet
they share their thoughts it's how they show it
sometimes they write to clear all their sorrow
sometimes they write about their tomorrow
the poet writes to express how they feel
sometimes on Love so their heart can heal
they dream they live through words and rhyme
and sometimes through the lens of time
Poetry is beauty It's magical It's art
It's expressed from the mind & deep in the Heart
When you read poems please keep in mind
the poet is real so please be kind.

About this poem

I wrote this (2022) poem because each of us has a unique voice that should be heard, and it is often not realized how much heart and soul goes into the written poem.

This poem reflects a deep understanding of the reasons why poets write. I also like the music of it when read aloud.
