Retrospect
I see her
I am curious
I feel things
and was told not to
She is thin
speaks the best
broken English
and sweet words
We see a play
she takes my hand
then my thigh
and I feel scared
Then there is pasta
I get an invite
to her house
and decline
She is sad
asks me if I
want pleasure
and to enjoy me
I leave her
by the pasta
drive away
and cry
because I felt something.
About this poem
This poem reflects the internal thoughts and struggle I had on my first date with a woman (wanting love and to be loved by a woman for the first time in my life). It isn’t something my family or parts of society would have accepted, and I was frustrated/sad/confused all at the same time.
