Home

I think of home
And it’s where you are
The image tinted orange,
the furious blur of a tail.

Then I remember
that you’re not there at all
And the picture shatters,
my heart in pieces.

I see you on the table
Your tired old body at peace
And my world goes black,
the air leaves my lungs.

How many times do I have to do this
until you are there
and I open my eyes
to find it was all just a horrible dream?
