Gadebridge parkrun

Philip Pugh 1956 (England)

November 22

It's Saturday morning at Gadebridge park
The marshals are here been up since the lark
The signs are up finish funnel too
The course is ready just waiting for you

You start to arrive from near and far
The best to date you surely are
Newcomers huddle course is mapped
Tourists greeted how we clapped

Briefing is given RD is happy
It's 9 am let's make it snappy
Watch in hand timekeepers are ready
All in a line runners nerves are steady

Fingers on watches deep breaths by all
3 2 1 go came the call
Turn left at the corners hearts are pumping
Past the keep fitters with all of their jumping

Sharp right for the bridge past the skateboard kids
All twisting and turning and doing their skids
Through the underpass for the first time
The hill is looming keep calm its fine

Incline conquered now along the top
Don't fret don't worry and please don't stop
For here's the bit that we all love
The downhill slope a gift from above

Back under the road past marshals smiling
Through the cones and JJ high fiving
1 lap 2 laps nearly done
Not long now been a great run

Up to the top this time take a right
Onto the finish with all of your might
parkrun is over entertainment for free
All that's left is a chat and coffee
