Chapel Doors

Time ticks slower than I remember
But then again I have a bad memory.
I'm pretty sure a moment like this lasts a second,
But right now it feels more like a century.

Time ticks slower than I remember.
I can feel them going by like snails
Tick Tock Tick Tock Tick Tock
The hours grow like the tips of my nails.

Maybe that's the god awful reason
Nothing has truly changed,
I'm here with the same people, in the same place
With the same table cloth stained.

This slow, treacherous walk through time
Has made me undone.
Tick Tock Tick Tock Tick
The clock on the wall mocks me, cause it knows it has won

An iconic tune fills the hall.
His diamond smile shines against a tie that's supposed to be mine.
My smile slowly faltering,
Maybe cause I know what's coming, maybe I'm trying not to cry.

Time ticks slower than I remember,
But I'm sure the people in this hall would disagree.
They're holding her white dress in the foyer,
While I imagine a world where the person at the end of the alter was me.
