Chance Lost

Distance measured by a vast ocean

Waves of time stretching ever further

Light sinking into the autumn horizon

A memory of a warm welcome smile

Drifting away on a frostbitten wind

Thoughts riding carefree on leaves

Fading recollections of silver linings

Where did those precious moments go?

Blink and the velvet curtain slams shut

Actors bow and reach for a thorn or rose

No encore or flourished finale

Just a whisper fading

About this poem

We all look back at a choice that changed our lives. How much time have we spent considering what could have been? This poem is about that moment.
