A Dollar For Sunday

I’m watching Saturday morning cartoons
Sitting close to the television to hear them better
As you play “He Walks With Me.” on your tiny
Grand piano
But, I don’t mind guessing the cartoons plot
Because you’re singing is so much sweeter.
I grew up and moved on,
My paper dolls were still under the tv covered in dust.
Occasionally I’d call
Just to hear your voice
18 years pass
Hoping you’d still remember it was me
I always thought of you, and wonder when I’d see you again.
Then there was the phone call, and you were gone.
You took a part of me with you but
How you raised me is all I need, with
Faith in Jesus, My first Bible you bought me,
Your prayers that covered me
And to always remember a dollar for Sunday.
