Ghosts

My grandma said Ghosts do exist
And that they live in the vastness of space
A conduit between the two worlds
The land of the living and the dead
She said it was not unlike Limbo that
Ancient Men whispered about in hushed tones
As if by speaking out loud
One would conjure up these spectres
Apparitions of the Underworld
Where they dwelt until a new soul
came along and offered them a new shell
Only then they would cross into the land of the living
So if ever you feel something
Or someone breathing down your neck
In the wee hours of the morning
It is just a ghost coming into your home
At least that’s what grandma said!

About this poem

As a child grwoing up in Fiji, stories of ghosts abounded when we were kids and I have been scared on a couple of occassions by them

Kaci Tami

I am an aspiring writer, poet, teller of tales that is me. I have always seen things in a different light and from my perspective, it gives you an insight into what makes me tick as a human being. My life is always hectic and the most important thing I have learnt is that there are three things that one should value in life (a) Your loved ones (b)Your health (c) The memories you create with people. In the end, we all leave this world alone, so spend time creating memories and meaningful relationships with individuals and society at large. My poems reflect my perspective on the world at large both real and imagined. I am in the process of collating an anthology of poems so I can share my likes, dislikes and life with others. Thank you for reading my poems more…
