Sardiel: Robin Hood of Ceylon (Book by Rienzi Crusz)

Douglas Blair 1951 (London)

Rienzi told me that I was the Boss. Not publishers or agents or critics or readership. It was cathartic, this poesie, and totally in my discretion as to form, rhyme, topic, intensity, odd choice of words or metaphor, whimsy, punch line, histories, heroism, villainy, family, dying, parenting. Yes, the writing was easy and very pleasing. The promotion and publishing search, a real Bitch and unpredictable. Press on Young Man.

About this poem

Rienzi was resident in our Town. Transported from Sri Lanka to snowy Ontario. Wrote of family's adjustments, prejudice, warm memories of jungle flowers and sea breezes. New challenges in academia and local arts. Counseled me a couple of times in my writing. A privilege.
