Shining light

Every day I wake up smiling,
Knowing that even when I'm dreaming,
My smile never fades away,
Because I'm dreaming of you always.

When you wrap your arms around me,
I feel so safe and secure,
Like a princess locked in a tower,
Where no bad feelings or people can reach.

My heart skipped a beat when I met you,
All I wanted was to be close to you,
Those feelings still linger on,
And my heart still flutters every time we touch.

You've changed my life with your words,
Motivated and encouraged me to succeed,
Pushed me to bounds I never thought I'd reach,
And yet you ask nothing in return.

Our life goes on and on.
And our love continues to grow.
you are the love of my life,
And my feelings will be forever strong.

About this poem

I originally wrote and posted this poem under my maiden name on another forum. I found it today while searching through my old writing books. I wrote this a few years after I met my now husband. These words ring true now more than ever.
