A Prayer for Jerusalem
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Let’s go to the house of the Lord,
Our feet stand within its gate;
Jerusalem where I adored,
When we go I anticipate.
A place bound firmly together,
Where all the tribes of the Lord go;
And they are able to gather,
Hear the decrees they need to know.
They will give thanks unto the Lord,
Where the thrones of judgment are placed;
But anyone that has ignored,
The Lord casts out to be disgraced.
Pray for peace in Jerusalem,
May they be secure who love You;
Those who will dishonor condemn,
Because they will never construe.
Let the peace be within Your walls,
Security in Your towers;
Praises filling Your hallowed halls,
Continuing throughout the hours.
I say that peace be within you,
Because of the House of the Lord;
Let our God seek what is true,
In you to be in one accord.
