BLOOD IN THE STREETS

Blood runs through the streets
After predators are done,
Survivors hiding underground
Or desperately on the run.

Predators sleep away the day
And haunt the streets by night,
Darkling shadows creeping
The blameless are asleep inside.

Hunters roaming just outside
Trying to find any way within,
Slink down dark roads and alleys
Hoping feeding will soon begin.

Movement in a sitting room
Just below where a family sleeps,
Through a darkened residence
Monstrous beings foully creep.

Blood runs through the streets
As malignant fiends lurk inside,
Hunting through the corridors
As innocent babies start to cry.

Unwary parents start to waken
Then go to fill their baby's needs,
Until wandering down the hallway:
Grotesque beings begin to feed.

From neath the crying baby's bed
A whimpering cur watches the scene,
As in the night-time corridor
Nightmare creatures loudly feast.

As the sun begins to rise again
Grotesque beings slinking away,
Hiding from the death-bringing sun
Until the end of another day.

THE END
