THE SONG AND DANCE OF THE DEAD MAN

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

The Dead Man walks alone while rolling himself a bone
searching for the truth the love the fears with his borrowed heart the original one turned black

The Dead Man looks for a message inside of every church's cracked dusty mirror staying clear of Jesus hanging on the cross looking for some kind of peace for his tortured soul
The fire burning deep within his skin

For The Dead Man, all this pain and knowledge is food
the confusion that  is growing his newfound mood
where is the love the passion that he once had in his heart
he did embrace death without turning cold the aging did not make him old

What a great storyteller
now only a midnight dweller
the dead walks within the beauty of the haunted
orchids listening to his screams

Questioning his past his life his shell
the reason why he is roaming through the depths of hell

The Dead Man wants to forget the name that he was so thoughtlessly given on the day of his birth on earth
paint his face for war while waiting for the rain to stop so he can be born to another song another dance a new romance, not in human form but life its self
