Dusk

Reiko Marrs 1992 (New Jersey)

With closed eyes, I see you.
My body overwrought with pain...
My mind still seeks comfort in your image.

Life sits upon my chest...
Blackening my horizon.
Like angry clouds...
Stifling the skylight above me.

The Space between...
separates and tears at our hearts.
Clawing until what’s left
Mirrors a void of love lost.

Once brazen souls
Devouring the sun’s arrogance.
Now we are haunted memories
Soaked in nostalgia.
Waiting for dusk.

About this poem

Relationship’s are one of life’s greatest complexities. We love, we hate, we love again. The pain can cut deep, leaving scars that change who we are.
