Limited Enlightenment
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Have people begun,
To comprehend and understand.
There are very few places,
Where entitlements to them given...
Is not only a blessing to receive.
But also,
The freedom of speech.
Done to bite the listener's hand.
Regardless if that listener,
Has supported to endorse...
The biter's quality of life to live.
Few other places on Earth,
Could do that and still...
Brag about themselves,
Obtained status, wealth and worth.
To accept and believe,
A mistreating others...
Leaves them feeling humored and pleased.
When ignorance and stupidity,
Becomes joyfully received,
To defend, expect and encourage.
A society taught to teach this is normalcy.
Something is desperately,
Swirling around going down in a cesspool.
As if to cheer and applaud the activity of it.
And...
With no other priority,
But to focus upon bigotry, division...
Ethnic diversity and ancient racial beliefs.
Taking everyone down,
Below the gutter to be found.
Until minds are twisted,
From their unused common sense.
To exchange for the expense,
Of living in a permanent...
Dysfunctional existence?
Well...
Have people begun to awaken,
With a broadened enlightenment to see...
Corruption, crime, fraud and deception.
Are man-made qualities.
And has become the culture that represents,
Success and achievement to obtain it.
No matter how low one goes,
Into a darkness just to impress.
Is this what the people,
Have begun to understand kept understood?
Then to claim to blame their way of life,
Is no good because...
Nolonger can they see the light!
