The Imperious King

A fragrant budding beauty
Her scent permiated the air
He instantly caught a whiff of her longing to be picked
His starved gaze settled upon her;
so fragile
so wide-eyed and irresistibly malleable
She would belong to him
He adjusted his crown of conceit,
introduced himself, and
planted a kiss on her cheek
He tantalized her
Charmed her
with duplicity
He hypnotized her
Before she knew it
She had been plucked
by calloused hands
Gripping her
incessantly
so tightly
She could barely breathe
He guzzled her essense
until she grew too enervated
to stand on her own
He cruelly extracted
every
last
drop
of vibrant pigment
from her skin
from her existence
leaving behind
pale, lifeless matter
In his clutches
Reluctantly rooted
Suffocated
Squandered
Subjugated
She now kneels there beside him
Forever languishing
His wilted queen
