He chose to go alone
Royston 1946 (Reading)
10,000 angels watched You climb the hill,
waiting for Your command, ready to kill.
Just think of the massacre there would be
for one angel could destroy an entire army.
But that was not to be the Jesus Way.
For You kept silent and sent them away.
Laid aside Your power and Majesty
and climbed on alone because You loved me.
Oh Lord, ‘twas love that bore the pain and loss,
for no nails could have bound You to that cross.
You could have stepped down and just walked away
leaving me alone on Judgement Day.
About this poem
I woke up this morning singing "He could have called 10,000 angels but He chose to go alone" To have absolute power and to choose not to use it is power indeed
