The Broken Heart

Anifar Mariba 2000 (Nairobi)

Ooh dear sweet love, what did  I ever do to you?
why are you giving me hard time  just to love and care
for the wrong person?
I really need someone who deserves this good
Treatment that you are given.

Loving you was the sweetest thing that has ever happened in my life.
But why don’t you see it?
Why have you decided to make yourself blind,
knowing that you have the right person with you?

I swore to make you happy always .
I swore to treat you well as you deserve.
I swore to take care of you like a husband .
What else do you want?
Is that how you will pay me back?
It pains me and tears my heart into pieces.

Why are you not bothered  that in cry every day?
Do you really feel satisfied to see my blouses wet
with tears every time?
I am not a river that bursts its banks
pouring water all over.
I am a human being like you
and in need better treatment and care.

Now  I see how blind and ignorant you are.
Doing everything for you is not a guarantee
it’s because I  love you with all my heart.
But you take me for granted.
Time has come for me to break free.

I need someone who can love me
and take care of me.
I need someone who really deserves
true love.
My love was not meant for you
I think it’s for someone else who
has not yet  appeared.
I am tired.

My heart is broken due to your
Irresponsibility.
I need some space to go and heal
Enough is enough!
I have really invested much in you
but you are just stupid and ignorant.

Saying goodbye is the best thing,
that in have been waiting for,
after all the pain and worries that
I  have been going through.
Now time has come for me to go,
I need a better life than this
                Goodbye!

About this poem

This poem is all about a lady who really loved her boyfriend to an extend of being heartbroken. Her boyfriend never cared about her feelings. The girlfriend would pretend to be happy but deep inside she is deeply hurting because of her partners behavior. She made all possible sacrifices just to make him happy and comfortable neglecting her own happiness to avoid losing him to someone else.
