Abdul Sami 1986 (Moradabad)

On attaining all of desire,

Getting shackled of the fire

Realised nothing mere pain,

Everything of the world

Nothing but vain!

Thoughts so selfish

Rushing to gain,

Day and night

Might and main.

Was the world all I needed?

Or the truth, I should have heeded?

Heading towards the origin

With passing the season,

Realised mere pain

Everything of the world

Nothing but vain!

Heart wrenches

Beneath the transgress

Of the gone, falling from grace.

Guilt, remorse and repentance

Prayers, expiation and quittance,

Suddenly shook by the gust of awakening.

Realised mere pain

Everything of the world

Nothing but vain!

All illusion, name, fame and opulence

True but virtues, faith and providence.

All that exists belongs to Him

Alpha is Him Infinity is Him.

About this poem

It is about getting free from the mental agony and taking refuge in the Supreme.
