O GODS OF AFRICA

The gods of nature were the sculptor’s idea of selling his crafts
He planted in men fear of the non-existential
And made fortunes of innocent ignorance
By feeding the idle mind with plot twists of myths
And made sacred what the genius wanted to see

They created the concept of sin,
To prevent men from digging their roots
In your short memories, their request laid
That festival be celebrated in their honor
A dignity they never had

Now, aliens who never heard the myth
Pursue their craters for the wealth the sculptors hid
In the wandering search, they’ve destroyed their habitats
And endangered the ecosystem
Because if you existed, you would have saved our world.
Stand up, O gods of Africa, and save your lands and water

About this poem

This poem was built from the tears of people in my community after our waterbodies and land have been destroyers by these foreign galamseyers (illegal miners). These villagers have so much belief in the gods of the local water and lands and are wandering where they are now. They are confused as to whether they’ve left our villagers or they were just myths built on their ignorance
