Good-bye Summer

Sharon Young 1965 (san francisco)

Goodbye Summer

I must say farewell to you
I must say goodbye with a heavy heart, with sadness in my step
It is time to move forward to reach out and grasp a new season.
So I say adieu to you
my beautiful summer.

With summer I felt warm and loved
the heat played music on my bare shoulders and legs
I welcomed each day as a beautiful creation from God
the nights were cool and comfortable
Ah my memories speak to me through closed doors and windows
as i gaze at the ice and white snow the people slip and slide down the crunchy sidewalk

But soon winter will leave and then
and only then will my true love return to me
my summer where the first warm rains will come and all will blossom again
until then I will wait
for summer.
