Glitter Heart

My heart is like paper
It is flimsy and easily torn
It has many rips and wrinkles
An old crumbled up piece of trash
Yet everytime my heart gets broken
I pull it put of the garbage can
I tape it up and superglue it
And straighten it out against my chest
And then i will check it over
Before covering the ugly parts with paint
Then i throw on some glitter to disguise the damage
And give it away yet again
Time and time again i hope
That the person takes good care of it
But i keep the glitter and the glue on standby
In case its discarded by yet another
This time I hesitated to give it out
My poor heart so worn down
But you took it and wiped away the glitter
And smoothed away the wrinkled
You gently washed away the paint
And left it in its original form
Beaten and scared it shook in your hands
But you kissed it with a smile
Held it close to your chest
And told me this paper heart was worth work
Another man's trash is another one's treasure
You tucked it deep inside of you
Beside your own bruised up heart
This is my treasure now you said
And you walked away leaving the glitter all over the ground
