Embraced By Fear

We did it for granny to protect her life, For the rest of our family our children our wife,
We did it for Government as we were hurdled into fear, We did it for our country and from normality steered clear,
To combat the boogeyman preying outside our door, To get back to normal with lockdowns no more,
We did it for the people in staying home and staying safe, We did it so as the boogeyman would vanish without trace,
Willingly we gave up our freedoms for those we thought wise, Those unknown to us at the time devils in disguise,
We gave into the propaganda and allowed fear to reign, And to those who opposed we called all types of names,
The mad hatter conspiracy theorists with each super spreader event, Vile and abusive behavior toward them we sent,
Blinded by fear our erratic behaviors, Trusting in Government our lords and saviors,
The media that thought us how to blame and hate, We fell for it all and took their bait,
Turning on family and friends and all other, Our mothers and fathers and sisters and brothers,
For the entire charade we the root cause, We the followers of their unjust laws,
The discriminate measures that were put in place, Against those who refused to hide their face,
Against those who claimed bodily autonomy their right, Against those who refused to give up without fight,
Their dire warnings given yet our ears refused, Instead we ridiculed, berated, slandered and abused,
Divided the nation its people torn apart, By wolves in sheep's clothing that blackened our hearts,

About this poem

The poem delves into the narrative those with the reigns of power enforced through horrendous fear mongering upon unsuspecting populations worldwide. How those who bought into the entire charade now awakened are remorseful for certain actions portrayed toward those brave enough to raise their voice in opposition despite all against them.
