Cry of a desperate mother

Good to be a mother
Wonderful they say
Motherhood the best gift they say
Mother is priceless they say
No one like mother they say
Proud to be a mother they say

Several children I begot
Scorching sun my body felt
Rainfall wasnt a hindrance
Struggling for their success was my duty
Daily bread they never lacked
School fees paid on time
The best they did not have
But It was my best

Youthful strength all gone
Old age came knocking
Bones weak and weary
Arthritis, rheumatism, high BP
new inhabitants of my body
Hustling of the hay days impossible
Nothing to hold on to
Time to reap the fruits of my labour

Children are the walking stick of old people they say
No fruits to reap from my labour
Abandoned in sollitude
Abandoned in abject poverty
Children living in opulence
Luxury and wealth abound
"that old woman is disturbing me"
"when I have time, I will pass"
Ashamed of my present state

Compassion from philanthropist
Sympathy from friends
An old abode harboring my bones
Old bed with no sheets
No one to cook or wash my body
Death the only liberator from suffering

The pain of loneliness
Children waiting for my death
To display fortune in Royal funeral
What about my sacrifices as a mother?
9 months in vain
Sacrifices in vain
When my time comes, I will gladly leave
Happy I begot children
Praying God blesses them
A mother must always pray for her kids.
