Cassiopeia

Nagy Bence 1998 (Sopron)

...
And piercing through the darkness,
I could finally see
The purest pair of stars
Shining back at me.
A sudden recognition of a thought I can't ignore:
The atoms in our bodies have met somewhere before.
Aeons ago, in the belly of a dying star,
We bade our silent farewell and ventured far.
In this grandiose celestial storm,
Stars collided and a love was born.
A call from above to reforge us forever and final
The horizon was just a stage, the background for Your arrival.
To a place we would call Home,
Where I could finally be free
With the purest pair of stars
Shining back at me
A mind so clear it resembles an open door
Eyes so deep I could see the ocean floor
A voice like that of an angel, so soft and so benign,
And although I never believed in anything divine,
Your body stands as proof of some masterful design.
I'll wait here forever,
And even if the Sun forgets,
I'll be singing your name to the stars till my lungs collapse.

About this poem

Written about the night I met the love of my life. The first stanza is lost forever, I forgot it before I had the chance to write.
