A broken woman's melody

Your memory rings in my head like a melody
I hum the tune as you chime through my thoughts
I recall how you'd bring out a symphony in my head with your presence
Every sense building up like an orchestra bursting from within
I don't just hear violins playing when I see you
No it's much more than that
You're hellos are like a calm piano
You're teases a deep stable bass
Your silent expressions confuse me like suspenseful tubas
The rare moments I get to spend with you like cymbals in my mind
And French horns blast straight into my ears whenever I catch myself thinking of you.
Like a silent admirer I listen and smile
As the chords strum through my head
Your masterpiece only an idea.
Left to the world of composers and dreamers.
Hymns and choruses meant to be shared.
To strike a chord among us hopeless romantics.
To listen and smile as we enjoy the fleeting verse.
One by one the instruments fade to a whisper and the symphony of you goes back locked inside to be overpowered by the clatter of life.
The trumpets of deadlines
The drumming pressure of keeping up
The monotonous clanging of pending work
Cluttering up my mind once again
I try to bring order by tweaking my routine
Tuning my life with to do lists but the cacophony of disparity between my thoughts and reality persists.
So I ask God what he thinks
And he tests my thoughts
Rewrites my symphony and brings in a new chorus of love and joy.
He reminds me of His son who died for me
Perfect love that removes all false delusions.
He teaches me to sing kumbaya to my worries.
And hones my nursery rhyme knowledge of Him
Into tangible verses to live by.
No longer running after fleeting orchestrated melodies.
But being given a greater, realistic and more wonderful love.
This perfect timeless symphony that you have prepared for me gives me the power to leave behind my broken records and my fleeting imagination.
To be grafted into the beautiful composition of agape love that you have designed.

About this poem

My biggest weakness is infatuation. Loving the idea of love. I often chase after this and end up hurt. Nowadays I'm slowly learning to build a relationship with Jesus and make him my source of Love. With that emptiness filled I can now show Gods love freely to the people around me. This poem candidly shows how I initially romanticize the idea of being in love with a boy and later going back to God again. This constant battle between worldly love and what I know is true is showcased in this poem.
