Salt of the ocean

Your love is the salt of the ocean
When you would hold me in your arms
Walking me out to sea;
I was never afraid
My arms wrapped tight around you
From the time that I was three
When it came to the beach-
It was only you and me
My cheek on your shoulder
The waves splash my chin
My lips trembled in the ocean air
They brushed against your warmer skin
My breath short and infrequent
I was holding it in
I could feel your heart beat against me
The feeling felt so secure
Often times my mind goes back there
For my fear it was the cure
And I’m sure you’ve been there before
When you knew your time was short
Did you think of me
Pressed against you off my feet
Nothing inbetween
But salt and two heart beats
