Isolated Man (a poetic pandemic)

And so it begins...
The shroud descends upon the masses.
The Prime Minister's conference has brought down the hammer of closure. Mandatory walls of isolation close in as nurses scurry with the pacience of saints.

The first day of spring breathes a sigh of relief  whilst planes, trains, automobiles put on their brakes to join in the stillness of nature.
Singers, dancers, actors, performers, exit stage left with the last encore lingering on the curtain of sleep.

The new dawn begins and I wonder at 'My Corona'.
The whiff of inertia sniffs at my heels...
                                                                     It is the
                                 Semblance of order...
       Exercise
                     Nature
                                Music
                                          Reading
                                                        Sleep
But before all this, the garden needs a new fence.
           The irony is not lost.

About this poem

It is a reflection on the very first day of lockdown (20th March 2020) in the United Kingdom, where I reside. It was inspired from the diaries I kept during this period of the Corona Virus pandemic.
