I Bend the Knee for None Other Than Love

You are waiting and so are they.
In this moment of power, everyone stands at its core while,
I hover.

I have been commanded by you,
to bend the knee,
to place my lips on your ring.
I long for the days when we would kiss each other’s wrists,
among the flora of our secret spring.

Now things have changed.
You have ascended to a throne,
and I descend into the unknown.
I wait and wait,
on and for you.

You have made yourself a just ruler,
no longer a righteous lover.
I take my leave from you permanently.

My knee will not bend for this moment.
I turn my back on you, my love,
I am sorry.

Leave me be, I must be set free,
for I bow to love,
and love only.
